After days of nail-biting anticipation, organizers with Jazz Fest have snagged the band Fleetwood Mac to replace The Rolling Stones on May 2nd. The abrupt cancellation of The Stones’ performance, along with the postponement of their world tour, was due to front-man Mick Jagger needing to have a heart valve replacement around that time.
With such short notice it was unclear who, if anyone, would be able to replace the legends whom would have a similar amount prestige. Many names were thrown around such as Paul McCartney, who is set to appear in the crescent city later on that month, yet there was very little hope of finding anyone to step into their place. Fleetwood Mac graciously stepped in even after performing at the Smoothie Center in Nola during February.
According to festival officials, the updated May 2 day at Jazz Fest will now present a full day’s schedule on all music stages.
Other acts for that day include: Tom Jones, Ziggy Marley, Mavis Staples, Regina Carter’s Southern Comfort, as well as local Louisiana based artists.
A day-specific ticket is required for admission to May 2. Tickets to May 2 are $75 through April 19.
Tickets are available at www.nojazzfest.com andwww.ticketmaster.com. Tickets can be purchased in-person at the Smoothie King Center Box Office.
